2008 BAMH CONFERENCE AT
LOUHELEN, SEPTEMBER 17-21ST
This year, the BAMH Board
has planned an extraordinarily exciting
conference. In past years, our membership
has requested more experiential activities
and more opportunities to reflect upon the
implications of the Bahá’i Revelation for
understanding mental illness and for
re-conceptualizing treatment approaches. In
response to this interest, the Board has
planned a conference with the theme: An
Exploration of the Therapeutic Process:
Spiritual Literacy, Ethics, and Intimacy. In
addition to a few outstanding presentations,
there will be many experiential activities
which will give the participants a rich
opportunity to refine their insights and
skills. A conference program is printed at
the bottom of this email and attached as a
separate document.
· PRE-CONFERENCE SEMINAR ON
DISASTER RELIEF TRAINING Joan Haskell, BAMH
Member and Mark Lindberg, Disaster
Behavioral Health Trainers for the Nashua
Public Health Department, will offer this
training. It has long been an objective of
the BAMH Board as well as the National
Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’is of the
U.S. to raise up qualified mental health
professionals to offer their services in the
event of a disaster. This training will
allow us to meet that goal and to have a
roster available in the event of a great
need. CE Units will be offered for the
training.
· CONTINUING EDUCATION
UNITS As was true last year, attendance at
the conference will make you eligible for
Continuing Education units from the American
Psychological Assn. and the National Assn.
of Social Workers. Cost will be $12 per
contact hour, with a total of 12 contact
hours available for the whole conference.
These fees are payable at the conference,
and certificates will be offered only after
you sign in and sign out of a session.
